About Bluebird Theater

The Bluebird Theater was designed by architect Harry W.J. Edbrooke and constructed circa 1913-1915, originally opening as the Thompson Theater.1 In 1922, the venue took on the “Bluebird” name and for decades served as a neighborhood movie house.5 In 1994, it reopened as a live-music venue, undergoing restoration to highlight its historic charm and unique tiered interior.5

The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, recognizing its architectural and cultural significance in Denver. Over more than a century, the Bluebird Theater has evolved with the city’s entertainment scene while maintaining its vintage ambiance and intimate connection to audiences.
