The Fox Theatre sits at the heart of Boulder's live music scene, with several major venues in the greater Denver metro area within easy reach.

• Boulder Theater: A historic art deco theater in downtown Boulder operated by the same Z2 Entertainment team, this venue has a capacity of up to 1,000. It hosts concerts, comedy, and live events across a wide range of genres.⁵

The Fox Theatre is located on University Hill and is best reached on foot, by bike, or via rideshare, as on-site parking is not available.⁴ Street parking throughout The Hill is free after 7pm.⁴

The Fox Theatre offers a full bar with beer, wine, and cocktails throughout the venue.² No outside food or drinks are permitted, but the surrounding University Hill neighborhood has a wide range of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.²

The Fox Theatre opened on March 6, 1992, with a performance by New Orleans funk legends The Meters, in a building that dates back to 1926 and served for decades as a neighborhood movie house.^2,8

From its earliest days, the venue built a reputation around sound quality above all else. Co-owner Don Strasburg designed the room to draw the eye directly to the stage and tune the PA system to perfection.²

In 1994, G. Love & Special Sauce played the Fox on their first U.S. tour and returned the very next night after Strasburg asked them back, calling it the beginning of their connection with Colorado.² The Fray signed their first record deal on the Fox stage in 2004, and the venue has remained a launching pad for artists and a cornerstone of the Colorado music community.²
