About The Mountain Winery

Paul Masson completed La Cresta, his “Vineyard in the Sky,” in Saratoga in 1905.9 After the 1906 San Francisco earthquake damaged the original cellar, a new wine cellar was built by 1907, featuring a 12th-century Spanish portal from old St. Patrick’s Cathedral in San Jose.9

Masson sold the winery to Martin Ray in 1936, and the Masson name remained part of the property’s winemaking legacy.9 The concert bowl was built in 1958, and since then, Diana Ross, Ringo Starr, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, and many more have graced the stage.1,9
