About Hovet
Hovet opened on November 4, 1955, as Johanneshovs Isstadion. It was designed by Swedish architect Paul Hedqvist.1 Its first event was an ice hockey match between Sweden and Norway, won 7–2 by Sweden. Originally open-air, a roof designed by David Jawerth was added in 1962 for the 1963 Ice Hockey World Championships.1 The arena was officially renamed Hovet in 1989 and underwent a full interior renovation in 2002. In 2016, it served as the official press center for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), held next door at what is now Avicii Arena.1
