About Boulder Theater

Boulder Theater opened in 1906, when it was the Curran Opera House. In 1936, it was rebranded as a luxury movie theater and named the Boulder Theater. With a striking Art Deco architectural style and iconic marquee, the venue is one of the most recognizable landmarks in downtown Boulder.

In the 1980s, as multiplex movie theaters became more common, the venue transformed again, this time into a nightclub. To prevent the building from being torn down, the Historic Boulder organization purchased the venue. After extensive renovations, the facility operates as a multi-purpose music venue and event space.2

Today, Z2 Entertainment operates the 850-seat theater.10
