About Lollapalooza
Lollapalooza was founded in 1991 by Perry Farrell, the lead singer of Jane’s Addiction. Originally a farewell tour for his band, the first Lollapalooza featured a range of headliners, including Nine Inch Nails, Ice-T, Living Colour, and Rollins Band.
After the success of the first event, Lollapalooza continued as a traveling festival across the US and Canada. After the 1997 run, the festival was paused but briefly returned in 2003 before another hiatus.
In 2005, Lollapalooza relaunched once more as a permanent, annual festival based in Chicago. In 2016, the event expanded to four days.
Lollapalooza also runs in other countries, such as France, India, and Brazil.5,6
