About Palace Theatre
The Palace Theatre was first built as a vaudeville theatre in 1913. At the time, it was the preeminent vaudeville theatre in the US, with performances by big names like Ethel Barrymore, Shirley MacLaine, and Diana Ross.7
In the 1930s, the vaudeville theatre closed, and it remained shuttered until 1965. The Nederlanders family purchased the theater and renovated it, opening the following year with a live performance of Sweet Charity. The theater was again renovated in 1994, reopening with the production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.1
The most recent renovation lasted from 2018 to 2024, and the venue reopened with a three-week residency by Broadway performer Ben Platt.2
