About Barclays Arena

Barclays Arena opened in November 2002 as the Color Line Arena. It was originally built at a cost of approximately €83 million within Hamburg's Altona Volkspark, adjacent to the Volksparkstadion football stadium.7 The 150-meter-long, 110-meter-wide structure rises 33 meters and was developed through a partnership between Finnish entrepreneur Harry Harkimo and the city of Hamburg.2,7 In 2007, the venue was acquired by Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the world's leading live entertainment companies.7

The arena has operated under several names over the years — O2 World Hamburg from 2010, Barclaycard Arena from 2015, and Barclays Arena since 2021.7

It formerly served as the home arena for both HSV Hamburg handball and the Hamburg Freezers ice hockey team until both clubs folded in 2016.7 On the concert side, the venue has hosted sold-out multi-night runs from German artists including Udo Lindenberg and Helene Fischer, alongside international headliners like Justin Timberlake, Céline Dion, Ariana Grande, and Dua Lipa.2
