About Lumen Field
Lumen Field was first conceptualized with Paul G. Allen’s 1996 effort to purchase the Seahawks and build a new stadium and exhibition center.1 The stadium opened in 2002 as Seahawks Stadium before becoming Qwest Field in 2004, CenturyLink Field in 2011, and Lumen Field in 2020.1
Built through a $430 million public–private partnership, the project included at least $130 million in private investment and up to $300 million in public funding.1 Construction incorporated 97% of the Kingdome’s concrete, with 35% used in the new structure.1 Today, Lumen Field hosts hundreds of event days and millions of attendees annually.1
