Chicago Fire FC
On match days along Chicago’s lakefront, Chicago Fire FC brings red jerseys and city pride to Soldier Field. The club was founded on October 8, 1997 – the 126th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire – and its name honors the city’s resilience and rebuilding spirit, while creating a connection between the club and the city’s defining historical moment.1
Chicago Fire FC plays its home matches at Soldier Field. Lake Michigan frames the stadium, while supporters stand, chant, and wave flags from kickoff through the final whistle.1

History of the Chicago Fire FC
Chicago Fire FC began play as an MLS expansion team in 1998, and in its inaugural season, the club won both the MLS Cup and the U.S. Open Cup, becoming one of the few teams in league history to claim a domestic “double” in its first year.
The championship run immediately established Chicago as a contender in Major League Soccer.2
The Fire added additional U.S. Open Cup titles in 2000, 2003, and 2006. Those titles still stand as some of the club’s highest achievements in domestic competition.2
