Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets are a National Hockey League (NHL) team competing in the Central Division of the Western Conference. Based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Jets represent one of Canada’s most passionate sports cities.
The current franchise relocated to Winnipeg in 2011, restoring NHL hockey to the city and reigniting a devoted fan base.1 Known for strong goaltending, physical play, and competitive divisional matchups, the Jets continue to grow and build their presence in the Western Conference.
Winnipeg Jets tickets are available through AXS and give fans the opportunity to experience NHL action in a high-energy hockey market.
History of the Winnipeg Jets
Winnipeg’s NHL history includes two notable eras. The current franchise began as the Atlanta Thrashers in 1997 and debuted in 1999 before relocating to Manitoba.1 The Jets name honors the original franchise that played in Winnipeg from 1972 to 1996 before relocating to Phoenix and being renamed to the Coyotes.2
Since returning to Winnipeg, the Jets have steadily established themselves as a competitive force in the league, including a run to the Western Conference Final in the 2017-2018 season.2 The team has developed standout players and built a core capable of contending within the NHL’s Central Division.
The Jets’ return marked a significant moment for Canadian hockey, restoring NHL presence in Manitoba and strengthening the league’s footprint in one of hockey’s most popular and fan-centric regions.
Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre
The Jets play at Canada Life Centre, located in downtown Winnipeg. Opened in 2004, the arena serves as the centerpiece for professional hockey and live entertainment in the city.3 It seats around 15,000 hockey fans, and is also home to their American Hockey League affiliate known as the Manitoba Moose.3,4 The centre has earned a reputation as one of the loudest arenas in the NHL, where a close-to-the-ice layout and enthusiastic fans create a lively game-day experience.5
Canada Life Centre offers a variety of seating options, including lower-bowl seats close to the ice, club seating, suites, and upper-level sections with full-ice views.3 The arena is known for its loud, engaged crowd and compact design, which creates an intense game-day atmosphere.
Conveniently located in the city center and close to other entertainment options, the venue offers accessible transportation and a lively setting for NHL matchups. Winnipeg Jets tickets offer entry into one of Canada’s most energetic home-ice environments.
