The Truman

Knowing venue policies can help guests have a smoother experience and a more enjoyable evening of entertainment. The Truman has several policies that are important to note, including:

• Re-Entry & Smoking: Re-entry is strictly prohibited. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is only permitted in the designated outdoor smoking area.¹
• Payment Options: The Truman is a fully cashless venue that accepts major debit and credit cards as well as mobile pay options.¹
• Prohibited Items: Backpacks, weapons, glow sticks, umbrellas, selfie sticks, outside food and drinks, and illegal drugs are all prohibited. • Age Restrictions: Age restrictions vary by show, so be sure to check the official AXS ticket page for details. For all-ages shows, guests under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.¹

Kansas City is a Midwestern destination for music, culture, and the arts. Concert venues, theatres, and arenas feature sporting events, live music performances, stand-up comedians, and more. Some venues in Kansas City include:

• Kansas City Live!: Kansas City Live! is a destination for food, drink, concerts, and events. This venue has over 30 restaurants and bars for patrons to enjoy.³
• The Midland Theatre: The Midland Theatre hosts comedy shows and concerts, and can be rented out for private events such as weddings and corporate parties. Live show capacity at The Midland Theatre ranges from 1,300 to 3,000 guests.⁴
• T-Mobile Center: The T-Mobile Center is a large arena that can host up to 20,000 guests for concerts and sporting events, including NCAA basketball games, WWE events, and hit artists such as Benson Boone and Kacey Musgraves.⁵

The Truman is located in the heart of Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, a district known for its live entertainment, food, and shopping. Parking can be limited during busy times, but other options to get to the venue are available.

Public Transportation: Public transportation is widely available in Kansas City. Some convenient options include:

• Kansas City Streetcar: The Kansas City Streetcar is a free public transportation option that runs daily from 5 AM until midnight or 1 AM, depending on the day of the week. The nearest stop is about a 0.5 mile walk from The Truman.⁶
• Ride KC Buses: The Kansas City bus system (Ride KC) has several stops near the Crossroads Arts District.⁷

Driving: The Crossroads Arts District is a compact neighborhood, and The Truman, located at 601 East Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64108, is at the heart of it. The venue strongly recommends using rideshare opportunities when possible, as parking in the area is limited.¹

The Truman primarily focuses on beverage service, with five full bars throughout the venue.¹

The Truman opened its doors as a music venue in September 2017, having been converted from a former auto body shop. Marathon Live, the owner of the venue, focused on keeping Kansas Citians at the forefront of the remodeling and featured local artists in the branding and design. Kansas City residents even chose the name The Truman through a public contest.⁸

Since opening, The Truman has hosted a variety of events. Concerts, comedy shows, weddings, and corporate parties are all held at The Truman.⁸
