Born and raised in California, Weird Al Yankovic began gaining attention as a teenager by sending homemade recordings to the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento radio show.2 His accordion-driven comedy songs became popular with listeners, helping him build an early following.1
By the time he graduated from college, Yankovic had released the nationally distributed singles My Bologna and Another One Rides the Bus. In 1982, he signed with Scotti Bros.
