Tame Impala Background
Kevin Parker, the performer behind Tame Impala, was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1986. He grew up in Perth, Western Australia.
His father was a musician, which inspired him to pick up the drums and start writing music as a child. He eventually learned to play the guitar, and in 2007, Tame Impala began.
Originally a collaboration with some of Kevin Parker’s childhood friends, Tame Impala was influenced by Pink Floyd and Hawkwind. It didn’t take long before the creative Kevin Parker made Tame Impala his own, singing and playing all the instruments himself.
In the 2000s, Tame Impala’s music started to gain popularity on Myspace, and this led to a record deal with Modular Records in 2008. Tame Impala became a supporting act for the Black Keys and MGMT, and released the debut album, Innerspeaker, in 2010. Other follow-up albums include Lonerism (2012), The Slow Rush (2020), and Deadbeat (2025).5,6,7
