About The Midland Theatre

The Midland Theatre opened in 1927 as a film theatre. On the grand opening day, every one of the 4,000 seats was sold, as patrons enjoyed the premier feature, a silent film called The Road to Romance. At the time, it was one of the largest theaters in the United States.1

The Midland Theatre primarily operated as a movie theater for decades, while undergoing several ownership and operational changes. In 1981, the venue was renovated and began to host live performances. In 2006, the theater underwent another major renovation and reopened two years later with a refreshed interior and exterior.1
