Ricardo Arjona was born Edgar Ricardo Arjona Morales in 1964 in Jocotenango, Guatemala. In his early career, he was a guitar teacher and basketball player.³

Arjona went on to act in film and television and had some modest success with his first album releases. By the mid-1990s, his albums were selling by the millions. He also began writing songs about more in-depth subjects than love and heartbreak.⁴

In the 2000s, Arjona began touring globally and earned his first Grammy nomination in 2007.⁵ Today, he still sells millions of records and performs at arenas on tour.
