Born Priscilla Marie Winans in Detroit, Michigan, CeCe Winans grew up in a musically gifted family. Her parents and siblings have released music under a variety of artist names, including Mom and Pop Winans (CeCe’s parents), BeBe and CeCe (a duet with her brother Benjamin, and The Winans (four of CeCe’s brothers).¹

Growing up in a Christian home, Winan was profoundly influenced by contemporary gospel and Christian music. She went on to become a singer on the Christian television program The PTL Club, where she and her older brother, BeBe, performed as a duo.² CeCe and BeBe released their first album, Lord Lift Us Up, in 1984 for PTL Records. The album achieved massive success, launching CeCe’s illustrious career.²

CeCe officially began her solo career in 1995, when she released her album Alone in His Presence.³ Winans expanded her reach with a series of critically acclaimed albums that reinforced her status as a leading figure in gospel music.
