LEA grew up in Kassel, Germany, where her father, a music therapist, introduced her to music at an early age. She started taking piano lessons at age six and wrote one of her first songs at 11.¹

LEA started publishing videos on YouTube under the name Lea-Marie when she was 15, and her song Wo ist die Liebe hin received millions of views.¹ Her 2015 contribution to Hildegard Knef's cover album, Für Hilde — So hat alles seinen Sinn, led to her signing with Four Music and her debut album Vakuum in 2016.¹

The singer-songwriter’s big break came in 2017 when a remix of her song Wohin willst du? with DJ duo Gestört aber GeiL reached No. 11 on the German singles chart.³ Her collaboration 110 with rappers Samra and Capital Bra hit number 1 on the German charts.³
