Matthias Reim is a German pop singer who got his start as a songwriter writing music for other musicians, including Roberto Blanco, Tina York, and Bernhard Brink. In the early 1990s, Matthias Reim began rising in the ranks as an artist in his own right.¹

Matthias Reim was born in Korbach, Hesse, Germany, in 1957.² While he started out writing music for others, he launched his solo breakthrough in 1990 with the release of his first album, Reim. One of the singles on the album, Verdammt, ich lieb’ Dich, was an instant hit and launched him to fame not only in Germany but also across Europe.¹

Reim continued producing albums and songs throughout the 1990s before a slowdown in his career in the early 2000s. That changed in 2010, when Reim released the album Sieben Leben, his next big commercial success, followed by a concert tour and another successful album in 2013 that helped put him back in the limelight.¹

• Das Lied (2016): Part of the 2016 album Phoenix, which achieved gold status in Germany, this track has become one of Matthias Reim’s more popular tracks.⁶
