The Toronto Tempo is a professional women's basketball team based in Toronto, Ontario, and the WNBA's first franchise outside the United States. Awarded as the league's 14th franchise, the Tempo represents a landmark moment in the growth of women's basketball, bringing the WNBA to Canada for the first time.¹

The WNBA awarded Toronto an expansion franchise in 2024, making the Tempo the league's first team based outside the United States. The franchise began play in 2026, marking a historic milestone for both the WNBA and Canadian basketball.¹

Led by Kilmer Sports Ventures, the Tempo were founded with the vision of becoming Canada's team, helping grow the game while creating new opportunities for players and fans from coast to coast.¹
