Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are an American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, that competes in the NFC North division of the NFL. As the only NFL team in Minnesota, the Vikings have gained a loyal fan following across the state, but they also boast fans from around the world.1 The team's colors are a distinctive purple and gold, and their home stadium, U.S. Bank Stadium, is often a sea of purple on game days.2 Fans hoping to join in the excitement face wait lists to get season tickets, and even individual Minnesota Vikings tickets frequently sell out.3

You don’t need a season ticket to catch a game. AXS lets fans get tickets to individual games so they have a chance to see the Minnesota Vikings fans in person for themselves.

History of the Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings team was formed in 1961, and kicked off their very first season with a win against the Chicago Bears. Their early seasons were overall successful, and they even won the very last NFL Championship in 1969, before the NFL and AFL merged. The Vikings' success would continue into the 1970s, when they made it to four Super Bowls. However, the team has yet to win a Super Bowl victory and hasn't returned to the final showdown since the 1970s.2

Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium

The Minnesota Vikings opened their current stadium, U.S. Bank Stadium, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2016. The stadium is actually a multi-purpose venue, and is often called "The People's Stadium," as it also hosts baseball, college and high school athletics, festivals, and more throughout the year.4

One unique feature of games at U.S. Bank Stadium is the sounding of the Gjallarhorn, a mythical Norse horn that the team plays to announce the start of home games.2
