About Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals
One of two NFL teams in Ohio, the Cincinnati Bengals are one half of the "Battle of Ohio" rivalry. They frequently go head-to-head with their counterpart in the northern part of the state, the Cleveland Browns.1 Since 1968, the team has been a favorite not just in Ohio but throughout the region.2
Loyal fans eagerly scoop up Cincinnati Bengals tickets and have a league-famous chant, "Who Dey." Those same fans have nicknamed their stadium, once called Paul Brown Stadium and more recently renamed Paycor Stadium, "The Jungle."3 Grab your Bengals tickets at AXS.
History of the Cincinnati Bengals
The legacy of the Bengals began in 1965, when Paul Brown, who had previously coached the Cleveland Browns for 17 years, met with Ohio's then-governor Jim Rhodes to discuss the creation of a second NFL team for the state.
In 1968, Cincinnati broke ground on Riverfront Stadium, where the Bengals would play starting in 1970, two years after they joined the American Football League. The same year, they won the AFC Central division title, becoming the first expansion team to win a championship of any kind within just three years of creation.4
The early years of the team continued to be a success, with the team winning its second AFC Central championship in 1973 and again in 1981.4 Paul Brown, one of the most famous coaches in the history of the NFL, continued coaching the team he founded until 1975, and remained team president and general manager until his death in August 1991.5
Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium
Paycor Stadium is located in downtown Cincinnati, directly on the banks of the Ohio River, and just a half-mile from the stadium for the Cincinnati Reds.6 For those lucky enough to score Cincinnati Bengals tickets, the riverfront on one side and the skyscrapers of the city on the other make for a striking stadium view.
An entertainment district between the two stadiums offers bars and restaurants that are popular for fans both before and after games. Paycor Stadium has 66,846 seats.7
