The Carolina Panthers were established in 1993, becoming the league’s 29th franchise.¹ They played their inaugural NFL season in 1995, winning seven of their 16 games.² Just two years later, the team made an astonishing run to the NFC Championship, signaling a bold entrance into the league. The team faced a period of rebuilding over the next several seasons.

In 2001, the Panthers underwent a leadership and player revamp, and things started looking up. They went on to win the NFC championship in the 2003 season, qualifying for Super Bowl XXXVIII.
