KALEO’s Background
KALEO formed in 2012 in Mosfellsbær, Iceland, where childhood friends Jökull Júlíusson, Davíð Antonsson, and Daníel Kristjánsson began playing music together and later added guitarist Rubin Pollock to the band lineup. Influenced by blues, folk, country, and rock music, the band developed a sound that blended American roots traditions with their Icelandic background.1
An early breakthrough came when the band’s recording of the traditional Icelandic song Vor í Vaglaskógi became a hit in their home country. Following that success, KALEO gained wider attention with original songs such as All the Pretty Girls in 2014, which helped introduce the band to audiences outside Iceland and paved the way for the release of their breakthrough album, A/B in 2016.1
