DOECHII’s Background

DOECHII was born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon in 1998 in Tampa, FL. Her mother was supportive of her musical pursuits from an early age. DOECHII’s father, rapper Snatcha Da Boss, recalls bonding with her over their shared passion for music.2

In high school, DOECHII began recording and self-releasing her original music. Her 2020 song Yucky Blucky Fruitcake became a global success after it went viral on TikTok.

DOECHII's big break came the following year when SZA asked her to be the opening act on tour. In 2022, DOECHII signed with Kendrick Lamar’s record label, Top Dawg Entertainment, and released her first studio EP.2
