Taking their name and music formula from Steely Dan, songwriters Jim Ashworth and Bryan Freeze formed Dr. Wu’ in 2006. After co-writing over 100 songs in a myriad of genres including rock, country, Christian and commercial music, they decided to start recording original blues influenced songs using guest appearances by over 40 of the area’s top musicians. Eight CD’s later, their Texas Blues Project has resulted in numerous considerations for Grammy and Blues Foundation awards including Best Blues Album, Best Long Form Video and Best New Blues Artist. Dr. Wu’ won Trinity River Blues Society’s Best Self-Produced Blues CD award in 2018. Known for Bryan’s humorously produced videos, Dr. Wu’ has over 600,000 views on youtube. The evening will feature the talents of three of Texas’ best guitar players…Buddy Whittington, Mike ‘Mouse’ Mayes and Danny Hubbard, who have played with the likes of John Mayall, Point Blank, Black Oak Arkansas and the Sidemen.
