About Shinedown
Multi-platinum band Shinedown have cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in music, embodying the kind of creative dynamism that transcends boundaries with over 8.3 billion global streams, a record-breaking 24 #1 rock hits, 15 platinum and gold singles, platinum or gold certification for all of their albums, 10 million albums sold worldwide, and major media acclaim. They are known for their timely and honest messages behind their chart-topping songs that resonate with not only their global audience and the rock community, but our culture at large.
Shinedown
Shinedown hits with muscle, melody, and plainspoken emotion that carries across arenas and car speakers alike.
Formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2001, the band has built mainstream rock success with millions of albums sold worldwide and a catalog led by Second Chance, Sound of Madness, Bully, and A Symptom of Being Human.12 Their music blends hard rock force with sharp hooks and reflective lyrics, which has helped them connect with fans across several eras of modern rock.2
That staying power comes from range as much as intensity. Shinedown can lean into heavy riffs one moment and an openhearted sing-along the next, all without losing its identity. The band’s mix of grit, melody, and emotional directness is a big reason it remains such a strong live draw.

Shinedown’s Background
After his earlier band Dreve came to an end, Brent Smith remained with Atlantic Records on a development deal. He used that opportunity to start Shinedown with Barry Kerch in Jacksonville.1 The first big step came with Leave a Whisper in 2003, followed by Us and Them in 2005, a stretch that produced seven straight top-five rock and alternative radio hits.1 Those early releases helped establish the band’s balance of radio-ready songwriting and heavier hard rock energy.1
That early momentum carried into a longer run built on lineup stability and bigger records. With Brent Smith, Zach Myers, Eric Bass, and Barry Kerch in place, Shinedown went on to anchor its catalog with albums like The Sound of Madness and Amaryllis, which helped cement the band as a lasting force in mainstream rock.2
