When it opened in 1928, it hosted carnival acts, including bicycle-riding bears and the World&rsquo;s Tallest Man. In the 1930s, the venue began hosting popular dance bands, film stars, comedians, and other live acts. It became Milwaukee&rsquo;s premier theater for orchestra shows as well, hosting some of the biggest musical names of the time period.4In 1958, the Riverside Theatre made history as the first venue on Wisconsin Avenue to host a rock-and-roll show.
