A Certain Ratio were formed in 1978 and released their debut single on Factory Records the following year. After releasing their next single Shack Up, a killer version of the Banbarra B-Boy anthem, the band travelled to NYC with New Order in 1980 and revolutionise their sound.

A Certain Ratio have influenced artists such as The Rapture, Andrew Weatherall, Juan Atkins, James Murphy, The Gossip and more. Soul Jazz Records, LTM & Creation Records have all compiled collections of their work to introduce their ground-breaking music to a new audience.
A Certain Ratio are Jeremy Kerr (vocals, bass), Denise Johnson (vocals), Martin Moscrop (guitar), Donald Johnson (drums), Tony Quigley (keys, sax), Liam Mullan (keys).
