Joshua Henry is currently starring in the Los Angeles company of Lin Manuel's Hamilton to high praise for his portrayal of Aaron Burr. He also helmed both the original Chicago and San Francisco casts. On Broadway, he recently completed his starring role as Noble Sissle in Scott Rudin’s new Broadway musical Shuffle Along opposite Audra McDonald- directed by directed George C. Wolfe and choreographed by Savion Glover. Joshua just filmed a lead role in the action thriller Renegades opposite J.K. Simmons and Sullivan Stapleton which releases worldwide in September 2017. He received critical acclaim for his Tony nominated turn opposite Sutton Foster in the musical Violet on Broadway, which garnered him Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Award nominations for his thrilling, show-stopping performance. He was previously nominated for a Tony Award for his starring role in Susan Stroman’s The Scottsboro Boys. Joshua’s other Broadway credits include leading roles in Diane Paulus’ revival of The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess and Green Day’s American Idiot. Joshua has performed his original solo shows in New York City at Joe's Pub, Feinstien's 54 Below, and Rockwood Hall in addition to sold out shows at Chicago's Schuba's Tavern and The Cabaret in Indianapolis. In concert he received critical acclaim for his role of Jamie opposite Cynthia Erivo in The Last Five Years at Town Hall in NYC accompanied by Jason Robert Brown. Joshua has sung with Sutton Foster in concert with The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and at Jones Hall with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. He also starred as Jim Conley at Avery Fisher Hall in Jason Robert Brown’s Parade.
