Brooks & Dunn Background
Before becoming the powerhouse duo fans know today, both Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn were pursuing solo careers with varying degrees of success.
Brooks, a Louisiana native, was working as a songwriter in Nashville, while Dunn, from Texas, was winning local talent competitions. In a stroke of industry genius, Arista Nashville executive Tim DuBois suggested they merge their talents in 1990.1
The chemistry was instantaneous. They released their debut album shortly after, which produced four consecutive number-one singles, a feat that instantly cemented their status as superstars.1 Their partnership proved to be lightning in a bottle, combining Brooks’ showmanship with Dunn’s distinct voice to dominate the charts for two decades.
