About RØZ

Genre
Dance / Electronic

Artist and producer duo RØZ, comprised of Manolo Cabrera and Hugo Lara, has rapidly emerged as one of the most innovative forces in Mexico’s electronic music renaissance. In less than three years, the project has evolved from digital experimentation to selling out major venues, redefining the expectations of Latin electronic music with a fluid, boundary-breaking sonic identity.

Manolo Cabrera began his artistic journey inspired by the cinematic world of large-scale electronic festivals – specifically, the Tomorrowland films that first awakened his fascination with dance music. Early explorations led him through trap, Tropical House, and Future Bass, releasing early work on SoundCloud as he developed his voice.

Hugo Lara’s path started in classical music. At just four years old, he played violin to the works of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi. In his adolescence, artists like Skrillex pulled him toward EDM, prompting him to experiment with production through GarageBand – an entry point that eventually enabled his first collaborations with Manolo.

The two met in high school, each maintaining their solo projects while constantly exchanging ideas and feedback. “He created sounds with synths that I didn’t know how to make,” Manolo recalls, while Hugo admired the originality in Manolo’s compositions. Their chemistry crystallized after a joint track with Tom & Collins, and the two officially united under the name RØZ, marking the beginning of the duo.

Their evolution has been intentional and uncompromising. After an early phase shaped by imitation and experimentation, they found their voice when they decided to reject the “rules” of genre altogether. “When our sound truly changed, that’s when we realized there were no rules,” explains Hugo. This breakthrough sparked a distinctive aesthetic that merges drum and bass, trap, reggaeton, UKG, and electronic textures into a singular style. Their transition to Spanish lyrics in mid-2022 became a key turning point, cementing the identity that would propel them into global recognition.

Unlike many Mexican electronic projects that focus on recreating global trends, RØZ is committed to building an identity that is deeply personal – and deeply connected to its audience. “Instead of seeing the people who follow us as fans, we see them as friends,” says Manolo.

In the past year, RØZ’s rise has accelerated to unprecedented heights, marked by major festival debuts at EDC Mexico, Bandidos Festival, Baja Beach Fest, and many more, where their high-energy performances have become a calling card.

Demand reached historic levels in late 2025: their first-ever U.S. tour, “Oye, Estados Unidos,” sold out within minutes in every major market, solidifying RØZ as one of the most sought-after live acts of the year. Just before the tour launch, they delivered their biggest solo concert yet – “Se está haciendo tarde CDMX”– packing Pabellón Oeste del Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City.

This runaway live momentum paralleled their chart breakthrough, as RØZ secured three entries on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with “flashes” featuring Yng Lvcas, their viral anthem “CORA DE HIELO,” and their powerhouse collaboration “Apaga la luz” with Peso Pluma.

Combined with the viral acclaim of their groundbreaking Spotify Sessions, and surpassing 410 million career streams, RØZ’s 2025 run established them as one of the most inventive, globally resonant acts rewriting the future of Latin music.

In December 2025, RØZ released their anticipated debut EP, mañana, temprano– a masterclass in genre fluidity that moves seamlessly through reggaeton, electronic, house, bachata, and techno with cinematic flair. The EP reflects the duo’s boundary-breaking ethos and global reach, featuring collaborations with creative trailblazers Nsqk, DannyLux, El Bogueto, and UK hitmaker Cloonee.

2026 has already been full of milestones for RØZ. They've been on their sold-out tour with stops all over the US and at festivals like Coachella (leaving people out of the tent since it was over capacity both weekends!), EDC Las Vegas, and Sueños Fest. Plus, the guys also joined Peso Pluma on stage at his show in NYC, made it onto Rolling Stone en Español’s Future 25 list, and hit 300M+ all-time global streams.

Showing no signs of slowing down, RØZ recently announced their upcoming debut album SE ESTÁ HACIENDO TARDE, set to release on August 7th with 19 new songs. Their recent single, “HBU” featuring Artemas, offers a glimpse into the duo’s new era as they continue to push their evolving sound to the next level. The duo is building on a remarkable trajectory, establishing themselves as one of the most visionary and influential forces in contemporary Mexican electronic music
