Known for their melodic bass-driven tracks such as Closer and Lost in The Sky, Crystal Skies are an American EDM duo who have developed a unique dubstep sound together that really resonates emotionally with listeners. Louisiana-native Britian Holcomb and Aaron Dawson of Philadelphia began producing dubstep music individually, with both citing household names like Seven Lions, Au5, and Koan Sound as heavily influencing their style.
The pair first collaborated on Soundcloud after four years of individual production, and that was where the magic really began happening with the making of Paradise Lost. Known for its stunning piano introduction, impressive vocals performed by Abigail, and soothing melodies, Paradise Lost became an immediate hit within the Soundcloud community. The twosome quickly realized how well they worked together, and they founded Crystal Skies, amassing over 3 million plays on Soundcloud, 7.5 million plays on Spotify, and 12 million views on Youtube since their formation.
On top of the raw talent these guys possess is an unrelenting work ethic and desire to create new music, which culminated in the release of their Dichotomy EP in 2017 under the Lowly Palace label. Dichotomy is a versatile EP that stays true to Crystal Skies’ melodic dubstep identity while adding touches of darker bass on opening track Chimera, future house elements on title track Dichotomy, and explosive drops on the EP’s closing track Something New.
The pair have also dropped some sick remixes of tunes by Protohype & Kezwik, Illenium, and Color Source. Crystal Skies are simply two guys with real talent who want to create music that people will enjoy, and it shows in each track they produce.
