Born on April 19, 1982, Ali Wong was raised in San Francisco, California.2 She attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she majored in Asian American studies.

Wong began performing stand-up shortly after graduation, honing her craft with several sets a night at comedy clubs, first in her hometown and then in New York City.2

Her career began to accelerate in 2011, when Variety named her one of its 10 Comics to Watch.2 The same year, she made her late-night debut on The Tonight Show.2 However, true mainstream recognition arrived in 2016 with the release of her breakout Netflix special Baby Cobra, which established her as a defining voice in modern comedy.3
