Jeff Dunham was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1962. When he was a few months old, he was adopted by Howard and Joyce Dunham. He grew up as an only child in an upper-middle-class family.

At age eight, Jeff Dunham received his first ventriloquist dummy under the Christmas tree. Its name was Mortimer Snerd, and this gift kicked off a lifetime of entertaining.5

Jeff Dunham attended Baylor University in 1980. He moved to Los Angeles in 1988, where he started performing at comedy clubs.6 His unique style led to regular appearances on The Tonight Show and his own limited series called The Jeff Dunham Show (2010).7

He also wrote a bestselling autobiography in 2010 called All By My Selves: Walter, Peanut, Achmed and Me.8
