Jake Brennan writes, voices and scores Disgraceland, a rock and roll true crime podcast.
Jake saw his Dad’s band open for The Ramones when he was 10 years old. Before the show he asked his Dad what The Ramones sounded like. He was told, “they sound like The Beach Boys but louder and faster.” Later that night, Jake learned that his Dad was right. He also learned the importance of history in understanding music.
Since then, Jake has been obsessed with music. And history. And for whatever reason, the darker sides of both. Disgraceland combines these obsessions. Jake lives in the Boston area with his wife and son and is surrounded by history and lucky enough to make a living surrounding himself with music. Sometimes it’s louder and sometimes it’s faster but it’s never as cool as The Ramones.
Join Jake Brennan, host of the explosive podcast DISGRACELAND, for an evening of rock ‘n’ roll true crime storytelling.
Jerry Lee Lewis’ 5th wife? Dead. Sam Cooke 3AM in a seedy motel? Dead. Sid and Nancy? Dead. Why? Because musicians are crazy. Because insane things happen to them. Because we love them. And because we let them get away with it.
For each live show, fans can expect a new, previously unreleased rock ‘n’ roll true crime story told and performed by Jake in his signature Disgraceland style complete with mellotron loops, plenty of greasy hair pomade, music and accompanying video.
Last year,Variety named “DISGRACELAND” “One of the 10 Best Music Podcasts” and called it the “rock ‘n’ roll version of the Peabody Award-winning Serial,” whileThrillist named it “One of the Best New Podcasts of 2018” and said, “Brennan’s voice is soothing and articulate, and he delivers nuggets of lesser-known information with the confidence and clarity of a creator who clearly loves what he’s doing.”
Season 3 of the DISGRACELAND podcast debuts everywhere on March 14, 2019 with part one of a two-part episode on Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love. Subsequent new episodes willbe released bi-weekly and dig into artists like Snoop Dogg, Johnny Cash, Amy Winehouse and more.
