Sorry, there are no Thomas Dolby dates.
Thomas Dolby has crafted a career that blends music and technology. His early hit songs, “She Blinded Me with Science” and “Hyperactive!,” and his keyboard and production work in the studio garnered him numerous awards, five Grammy nominations and live performances with the likes of David Bowie and Stevie Wonder. Recognizing the opportunities for digital distribution of music, Dolby started Beatnik Inc. and Licensed technology to Nokia to co-develop the first embedded software synthesis “polyphonic” ringtone engine for mass market devices. For 12 years, Dolby also served as musical director of the world--famous TED conferences. His first new studio album in two decades, A Map of theFloatingCity, received critical acclaim and was accompanied by the self--created, multi--user social networking game The Floating City. In the wake of his new album Thomas Dolby has recently completed his first film, The Invisible Lighthouse. It documents the imminent closure of an historic lighthouse overlooking a mysterious ex--military island near his coastal home inEast Anglia,UK. The lighthouse will soon be abandoned to the North Sea; and this was so distressing to Dolby--who has fallen asleep to its rhythmic flash on his bedroom wall ever since he was a small boy--that he decided to mount a clandestine raid on the island in a high--speed RIB Via a remote controlled quadrocopter camera, Dolby’s Film tells the story of the island’s sinister past, and the controversial role the lighthouse played in Britain’s most famous UFO incident. In live performance in the fall of 2013 he will project his film while narrating and playing the musical score to picture.
