Rising singer-songwriter Alexa Villa just dropped her tantalizing new video, “Wanted,” directed by the artistically talented Ra Dreyfus. The stunningly shot video is a scorching and sexy vision of a romance gone wrong, and the emotional scars that many can bare.
Villa spoke with AXS about what this song and powerful video mean to her. “The song 'Wanted' stands for anyone who is finally taking a stand for themselves. Someone who is brave and ready to walk away from a toxic situation. In the video, I’m taking charge and breaking away from that person who’s been taking me for granted. I’m killing all memory of what that was and starting new.”
After parting ways from her band, Oversoul, who played on such tours as Van’s Warped Tour, Villa is ready to step into the spotlight of her solo career, with big plans for 2017. Her new, edgy video and single is definitely a way to catch some social media buzz.
Villa, who is a classically trained pianist, describes herself as “grunge pop with a little blues feel and a ‘lotta attitude,” with influences from Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple to Lana Del Rey and Halsey.
This up and coming singer is currently writing and recording her new record in the studio, with plans to hit the road by summer. “Wanted” is the first single off Alexa Villa’s solo debut EP Act 1, which is slated for an April 7 release.
