The latest radio anthem perfect for rolling the windows down and jamming this summer is finding itself catching on to mainstream quite quickly and is rising to the top. WALK THE MOON "Shut Up and Dance" is gaining speed week by week and at this pace it could be a showdown of who will have the No. 1 and No. 2 song hit of the summer.
"Shut Up and Dance" last week rose up one more spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Previously cracking the top 5, "Dance" moved up another position inching its way closer to the summit of the bow down singles chart.
Taken from the band's second major label release TALKING HARD released in December 2014, "Shut Up and Dance" has already hit the top of the Rock Songs and Alternative Songs charts and is also currently the No. 1 track on the Hot AC with its ability to be played across many genre stations. The top 5 hit has taken 27 weeks to climb since its release last fall but has finally made the climb with its indie pop rock dance sensibility.
With "Dance" picking up more mainstream radio airplay, the song has a chance to rise further on the Hot 100. Combined with downloads of the single which has been certified Platinum already by the RIAA, it's a formula used to determine chartings along with official streaming such as Spotify and VEVO/YouTube.
WALK THE MOON is venturing out on tour for the summer after completing a headlining tour in the first part of the year. Their biggest gig so far will happen at Detroit's Comerica Park when they open for The Rolling Stones on July 8. In April, the band sold out Detroit's Fillmore theater and will likely earn the breakout band of 2015 more fans along with a bump in their budding career.
Tickets for The Rolling Stones with WALK THE MOON are on sale now.
