Libbey Bowl’s park setting feels relaxed, but event rules can vary. The Ojai Music Festival is the venue’s biggest annual event, so its guidance can help guests plan while still leaving space for event-specific rules.

• Re-Entry & Smoking: Check with venue staff before leaving during an event. Smoking is prohibited in the park and Libbey Bowl, including vape pens and e-cigarettes.²
• Payment Options: For on-site purchases, check event-specific guidance before arriving or ask venue staff at the Bowl.
• Prohibited Items: Chairs, umbrellas, knives and other weapons, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, dogs, and other pets are not allowed.¹ Refer to the policy page for a complete list of prohibited items.
• Age Restrictions: Event-specific age rules may vary. For the Ojai Music Festival, children ages five and under are free on the lawn, lawn tickets are available for ages 6 to 11, and students 12 and up may enter reserved seating with a student ticket.²

• Ventura Music Hall: Ventura Music Hall is a dedicated concert venue in Midtown Ventura with a large dance floor, surrounding seating, food and drinks, and a 635-person capacity.³
• The Majestic Ventura Theater: Located in Ventura, this 1920s Mission-style theater hosts rock, reggae, metal, blues, country, jazz, Latin, hip-hop, world music, and more, with a listed capacity of 1,200.⁴
• The Canyon - Agoura Hills: This Agoura Hills venue hosts rock, pop, country, jazz, tribute acts, emerging artists, and occasional comedy, with room for up to 550 seated or 1,000 standing guests.⁵

Libbey Bowl allows guests to bring food to enjoy during events.¹ Ojai Valley Music presentations also offer bars with beer, wine, and limited cocktails before showtime.¹ Dining options are available at the rear of the lawn, where guests can find bars and other vendors before settling in for the show.¹

Libbey Bowl began with outdoor concerts in Ojai Civic Center Park, now Libbey Park. The Ojai Music Festival held its first outdoor concert there in 1952, using a temporary platform and canvas tarp for two concerts conducted by Thor Johnson.⁶ A permanent outdoor theater followed in 1954, and planning began for a permanent Bowl and Shell in 1955.⁶

Completed in 1957 for $12,000, the Ojai Festival Bowl opened with the West Coast performance of Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land, conducted by Copland himself.⁶ By the 1970s, it had become Libbey Bowl after Civic Park was renamed as Libbey Park.⁶
