About University of Wolverhampton at The Civic Hall
The Civic Hall opened in May 1938 as part of a dual-hall complex in Wolverhampton and was officially inaugurated by the 8th Earl of Dartmouth during a ceremony featuring performances and celebrations.1
In the 1940s, the venue hosted concerts by leading orchestras, helping establish its reputation beyond the region.1 Over time, artists including David Bowie, Queen, and Bob Marley performed here, reinforcing its place on the UK touring circuit.1
This legacy continues following the venue’s reopening in 2023 after a major refurbishment programme.6
