About Englefield House

Englefield’s history dates back to 871 AD, when a battle won by King Alfred over the Danes helped give the place its name, evolving from “Anglefield” to “Englefield” over time.2

Later history includes the Englefield family’s prominence during the Tudor period, the seizure of the estate following the Throckmorton Plot of 1583, and the beginning of the Benyon family connection in the mid-18th century.2

The scale of Englefield House has already been tested by major live events, including a three-day concert run in 2022 that drew more than 20,000 attendees across three days and nights.3
