Watford Colosseum is a Grade II-listed Art Deco landmark in Hertfordshire, celebrated for its internationally acclaimed acoustics.1,2 Opened in 1938, it has hosted everyone from soprano Maria Callas and tenor Luciano Pavarotti to Oasis, The Who, and Robbie Williams, and served as a recording location for major film soundtracks, including The Lord of the Rings.2,3

About Watford Colosseum

Watford Colosseum opened as the Assembly Rooms for Watford Town Hall, designed to serve as a civic and cultural centrepiece for the broader Hertfordshire community.2 The BBC Concert Orchestra has been a long-standing presence, regularly recording and performing at the venue, including the popular Friday Night is Music Night broadcast series.12 In 2017, the Colosseum received a BBC Music Day blue plaque recognising its acoustics and contribution to the UK's musical heritage.3
