TURNSTILE

Baltimore hardcore band TURNSTILE has built its name on pushing punk beyond its usual limits, blending classic American hardcore with groove-heavy metalcore and broader alternative influences.

They’ve developed a sound that balances raw intensity with melody, earning recognition for stepping outside the traditional boundaries of hardcore and into a wider rock space.1 Albums like Time & Space and the Grammy-nominated Glow On highlight that shift, while Never Enough continues the progression with a more textured, atmospheric edge.2

TURNSTILE’s Background

TURNSTILE formed in Baltimore in 2010 around vocalist Brendan Yates, bassist Franz Lyons, drummer Daniel Fang, and guitarists including Brady Ebert, with the lineup evolving over time.2 Over time, the lineup has evolved, with guitarist Pat McCrory joining as a core member. Ebert stepped away from the band in 2022; Meg Mills has since performed with the group as part of their touring lineup.

Early releases such as Pressure to Succeed (2011) and Step 2 Rhythm (2013) helped them carve out a place within the hardcore scene and steadily grow their audience.2 Their debut album, Non Stop Feeling (2015), marked a clear step forward, showing how the band could channel their intensity into something more melodic and expansive.2 As their profile grew, so did their opportunities, leading to a major-label deal and the release of Time & Space in 2018, which brought their sound to a much wider audience.1
