Originally from Illinois, K.Flay started rapping andwriting songs on a lark while attendingStanford University, and soon began releasing herself-produced mixtapes. Not long afterthe arrival of Every Where Is Some Where (her major-labeldebut), she took her kinetic liveset to arenas around the world as support for ImagineDragons, in addition to earning herGrammy nominations in the categories of Best RockSong (for “Blood in the Cut”) and BestEngineered Album, Non-Classical. Through the years,she’s also brought hergenre-bending sensibilities to an eclectic mix ofcollaborations, working with everyonefrom Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda to Louis the Childto skate-punk bands like FIDLAR andDune Rats. But despite that deliberate shapeshifting,K.Flay’s output remains rooted in herundeniable lyrical skills, an element she attributesto her innate love of language and itsinfinite possibilities.

In the making of her new EP Inside Voices, the two-timeGrammy-nominated artist followedthrough on that newfound confidence by claiming totalfreedom in every aspect of thecreative process. The result: a glorious primal screamin EP form, equal parts exhilaratingand explosive and wildly illuminating.
