Bio: World Seniors Darts Tour Matchplay
York Barbican is once again set to host the World Seniors Matchplay in 2024. American star Leonard Gates will head to York as the defending Champion. Gates defeated Jim McEwan in the final of 2023’s edition to win his 3rd straight WSDT TV title. Legendary 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor, and WSDT ever-present, will be amongst the field, as he seeks out his first Seniors Darts title. The Power has been prolific throughout his entire career and will be itching to add to his trophy cabinet. Two-time back-to-back World Seniors Darts Champion Robert Thornton will be on a revenge tour, as he seeks to win back the trophy, he first won in 2022. Glen Durrant’s resurgence on the oche will continue in 2024, as Duzza returns to York once again. He’ll be joined by 10-time champion of the world Trina Gulliver, the greatest female player of all time. The full line-up and details of qualifiers for the 2024 staging will be announced in due course. Billy Lovell of the World Seniors Darts Tour said: “We are delighted to be returning to the York Barbican for the World Seniors Matchplay”. “2023’s event had such great support, with the venue loved by the fans and the players, we can’t wait to return and make 2024’s event even bigger and better”.
