Show lessBio: The National
Judging from the band’s current popularity, it's hard to believe that it took a bit of time for Ohio indie rock band The National to find their audience. They had moderate success with their self-titled, alt-country debut album in 2001, but after years of honing their Americana indie rock sound to perfection, they released the albums Alligator (2006) and Boxer (2007) and these works would catapult The National to international fame. Their melancholy, often politically-themed songs coincided with the social unrest surrounding the 2008 U.S. presidential election, amplifying their music's resonance with indie music fans worldwide. The following years produced the acclaimed indie favorite albums “High Violet” (2010), Trouble Will Find Me (2013), Sleep Well Beast (2017) and I Am Easy To Find (2019), with Sleep Well Beast winning the Grammy award for Best Alternative Music Album. Since then, demand for The National concert tickets remains high, as devotees regularly flock to see them perform songs like Fake Empire, Mistaken For Strangers, Mr. November, The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness, Slow Show, Bloodbuzz Ohio and Terrible Love LIVE in concert. Frontman Matt Berninger’s moody baritone vocals pack an emotional punch while rhythmic guitar work and steady mid-tempo drum beats mesmerize audiences into a spiritual yet toe-tapping dream state. The National have also collaborated with a host of acclaimed artists including Sufjan Stevens, St. Vincent and Richard Reed from Arcade fire, while critics have compared the National’s music to Wilco, Leonard Cohen and The Antlers. The National’s latest album First Two Pages of Frankenstein with its chart-topping single Tropic Morning News, arrives April 28, 2023 and includes features from Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, and Taylor Swift.
