The arena-based strongman tour
In 1977, The World’s Strongest Man television show was launched to capture the dedication, drama and sinew-busting feats of professional strongmen who participated in the annual competition of the same name. It ran for 40 years and grew a huge following of fans with a passion for strength.
Giants Live was introduced in 2009 as the official World’s Strongest Man qualifying tour – with winners getting a chance to go after the coveted title at The World’s Strongest Man contest in December of that year. Plus, it gave audiences the opportunity to watch competitors carry cars, hoist logs and throw giant boulders.
The first Giants Live show took place in a gym car park with about 50 people in attendance. Over the following decade, the sport evolved hugely with strongman contests now packing out arenas.
Following a successful 2022 tour which included over 40 athletes and 50,000 fans, Giants Live is back bigger and better for 2023 with 6 UK Arena shows.

Giants Live’s 2023 UK event schedule:

•    Giants Live: Britain’s Strongest Man (28th January 2023 at Sheffield Arena, Sheffield)
Fans from all corners of the UK are expected to descend upon the northern city to see the biggest and toughest go head to head for the hotly contested Britain’s Strongest Man title. All eyes will be on the podium with established strongmen and up-and-coming British stars raring for a shot at glory.

•    Giants Live: Europe’s Strongest Man (2nd April 2023 at First Direct Arena, Leeds)
Europe’s Strongest Man title is among the most coveted prizes on the tour. Will the reigning champion, Oleskii Novikov, be retaining his title? Get your ticket to find out!

•    Giants Live: The Strongman Classic (8th July 2023 at The Royal Albert Hall, London)
After 120 years, professional weightlifting returns to the one of the most historic and prestigious stages in the UK, as Giants Live: The Strongman Classic takes fans on a journey back in time. Witness the crème de la crème of strongmen go head to head across 21st century versions of six old-school events including stone carries, Hercules holds, overhead presses and more.

•    Giants Live: The Strongman Open (2nd September 2023 at Cardiff International Arena, Cardiff)
Returning to Cardiff for its second time, strongmen from around the globe will have to undergo five gruelling tests of strength, starting with the always riveting World Deadlift Championships. When Giants Live: The Strongman Open last visited Cardiff, fans were treated to an unforgettable performance from Wales’ Gav ‘The Bull’ Bilton, who will be back again for 2023.

•    Giants Live: World Tour Finals (21st October 2023 at The OVO Hydro, Glasgow)
Being held for the third time in Scotland, strongmen competitions are a natural for the country that has often been a proving ground for The World’s Strongest Man title holders thanks to the Highland Games. Brothers Tom and Luke Stoltman, the giants of Invergordon. Both have won Scotland’s Strongest Man title multiple times, and they are the only brothers in history to reach the finals of The World’s Strongest Man.

•    Giants Live: World’s Strongest Nation (18th November 2023 at The M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool)
Get ready to see the World’s Strongest Men and Women perform scarcely believable feats of strength. With the rising popularity and emergence of some incredible Strongwoman talent, we’re privileged to be inviting the World’s Strongest Women to compete on the platform they truly deserve. Once again in 2023, Giants Live is heading to Liverpool – a battle between the strongest Men and Women from the USA and UK to finally decide who is the Strongest nation on the planet!
