About James Morrison
James Morrison is currently on a high having achieved his highest chart-position in 14 years with the Top 5 album ‘Fight Another Day’, which he followed with a show-stealing guest appearance on this weekend’s ‘Strictly’. But now he looks back to where it all became as he announces details of a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his smash hit debut album ‘Undiscovered’.
‘Undiscovered’ was the record that changed everything for James Morrison. Back then, he was fitting carpets by day, playing open mics by night and driving up and down to London at any spare moment, taking meeting after meeting with the multiple record companies interested in signing him. Money was tight, but it barely mattered as James was fuelled by the excitement of potentially having a big future ahead of him.
And with the release of ‘Undiscovered’, that future became grander than he could have ever expected. Its singles, ‘You Give Me Something’ (#5, Platinum) and ‘Wonderful World’ (#8, Gold) both made him a constant fixture in the charts throughout the second half of 2006. The ‘Undiscovered’ album was an even bigger phenomenon, spending two weeks at #1 and an entire year in the Top 40. With over 1.5 million domestic sales, it has been certified 5 x Platinum. His three subsequent BRIT nominations resulted in him claiming 2007’s British Male Solo Artist award.
The tour will see James play ‘Undiscovered’ in its entirety. The set will take in its big hits, fan favourites ‘The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore’ and ‘This Boy’ as well as rarely performed songs such as ‘One Last Chance’ and ‘How Come’. The shows will be rounded off with highlights from the rest of his storied career.
