La Roux burst onto the scene in 2009 with her Grammy-winning self-titled debut album and era-defining hits “In for the Kill” and “Bulletproof”. La Roux not only put synth-pop on the map with this album, but redefined pop music in the late 2000s, paving the way for other synth-pop artists to reach the mainstream. This trailblazing spirit quickly  transcended music, and became known for her distinct androgynous style and non-conformist attitude, challenging the traditional expectations of what a pop star should look and act like. Her 2014 album Trouble in Paradise and 2020’s Supervision explored sounds that spanned genres.
